Key Aspects of the Community Council’s Area & History:
- Colinsburgh Founding: Created around 1705–1718 by Colin Lindsay, 3rd Earl of Balcarres, to house his Jacobite supporters.
- Kilconquhar History: A much older, historic estate and village with records dating back to 1200.
- Key Landmarks: The area includes the 1894 Colinsburgh Town Hall, the 1903 Galloway Library, and the 18th-century Kilconquhar church site.
- Recent Initiatives: The council and community trust have focused on path improvements, enhancing woodland walks, and supporting local facilities such as the Colinsburgh Community Cinema.
- Governance: Established under the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 to represent local views, the community council is supported by the Colinsburgh Community Trust, which manages local amenities.
- Current Focus: The council works on issues like sustainable housing, promoting the East Neuk area, and maintaining village heritage.
