When we do something as local and basic as making our community council work, you’d think it is easy. Often it is; sometimes it gets complicated.
As a team of community councillors (volunteers), we work together to make things happen, build and extend community links with Fife Council around our area and beyond. Our local councillors work alongside us, making contacts, supporting our agenda and speaking for us as necessary.
We’re small, not always perfectly formed, but we are local, interested and willing to help resolve problems and issues which may be missed. You are always welcome to attend CKCC meetings and say your piece.
Cooperation and teamwork gets things done as these young people know.
The inspection of headstones and memorials are due to commence on 1st April at Kilconquhar Cemetery/Churchyard.
Over the past 30 years, eight people in the UK have been killed when a headstone has fallen on them, in addition to which a countless number of accidents have occurred, ranging from bruising to severe crush injuries and bone breakages.
Fife Council has a responsibility and duty of care to ensure that risks within our cemeteries are properly managed.
A specialist remedial squad from within Bereavement Services will undertake
this work. For any larger memorials, structural engineers or specialist memorial
contractors may also be required.
As remedial works are undertaken, the team will keep disturbance to a minimum,
whilst ensuring works will progress in a dignified and respectful manner. During
the work, it is possible that sections of the cemetery will have to be fenced off for
safety reasons.
Signs will be placed at the entrance to the cemetery advising of the work. We will
also issue a media release (copy to follow) and advise of the work through social
media.
